["North Wind Brings Good News"] Green, Low-Carbon, and Renewable: WINDEY Offers "Decarbonization Solutions" to Global Shipping Industry

Time:2024-10-18 Number:0 From:WINDEY

On October 17, during the China Wind Power, the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in China jointly organized the "Power to X - Hydrogen, Ammonia, and Alcohol Summit Forum & the 2nd China-Denmark Shipping Decarbonization Summit", which brings together innovative wisdom from all around the world to discuss solutions for industry challenges such as green "upgrading" and zero-carbon transformation.

As an internationally leading new energy service enterprise, WINDEY was invited to attend the summit, at which it showed the attendees the practices of biomass green methanol and the integrated solution for new energy hydrogen-ammonia-alcohol production, offering "decarbonization solutions" for the development of the global shipping industry with its comprehensive innovation concept and profound forward-looking ideology.

In recent years, the International Maritime Organization and the European Union have successively issued legislative documents, further rigorously specifying the requirements for greenhouse gas emission reduction of ships. New alternative fuels represented by green methanol have been quickly defined as the "boost" for the industry. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, the demands for green methanol in non-electric carbon neutrality scenarios will approach 400 million tons in 2050, showing strong market needs.

In response to this development trend, WINDEY with a keen insight made overall planning. Driven by technological innovation, it promotes the development of green energy and embarks on pushing ahead with the construction of the green methanol industry chain. In January this year, a contract for the WINDEY Hebei Handan Green Methanol Production Pilot Zone Project was successfully signed. In light of the contract, WINDEY will build Handan New Energy International Innovation Port in the form of whole industry chain "Wind Turbine - Green Electricity - Green Hydrogen - Green Methanol", leading the industry to set an example. Thanks to the Company’s unremitting efforts in scientific research, the WINDEY Handan Green Methanol Project was recently conferred China's first international sustainability and carbon authentication (ISCC EU) certificate for the green methanol raw material side with farms/plantations as the origin. This not only provides strong technical support for the Company's subsequent green methanol product authentication work, but offers a highly valuable reference for the decarbonization transformation of China's green shipping industry. Currently, WINDEY has successfully implemented a green emission reduction design across crucial stages, including the cultivation, collection, and treatment of raw materials, methanol production and processing, the transportation of raw materials and finished products, as well as storage and trade. It is expected that the reduction in emissions from green methanol per dry ton of marine fuel will surpass the carbon emission reduction standards set by the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) and the “Fuel EU Maritime” regulation by a significant margin.

Under the influence of numerous factors such as technical level, production cost, transportation conditions, and storage media, clean fuels such as green methanol and green ammonia have different performances in a variety of scenarios. With the continuous development of consumption/energy storage technologies and the rapid expansion of application scenarios, diversification of clean fuels is likely to predominate in the industry. During the summit, WINDEY organized a hot discussion with the attendees on relevant topics on how to quicken the achievement of the "decarbonization" goal of the shipping industry. Focusing on specific applications of emerging technologies, the key points of formulation of green policies, and market-driven factors, attendees in the discussion had in-depth exchanges. Based on the Company's up-to-the-minute achievements in the exploration of "New Energy +" consumption scenarios, WINDEY proposed an integrated solution for new energy hydrogen-ammonia-alcohol production, and it elaborated on forward-looking concept in such respects as integrated collaborative control of wind power and hydrogen & methanol production in the full industry chain "New Energy Manufacturing - Green Electricity - Green Hydrogen - Green Methanol", energy storage, carbon emission management throughout the project life cycle, zero-carbon park design, emission reduction scheme design, and the core elements for green methanol standard formulation. That provided an "Effective Prescription" for promoting the green transformation of the global shipping industry and ensuring the high-quality development of the new energy industry. As the deep-sea strategy extends to a wider range, WINDEY's development concept, which is based on the integration of new energy hydrogen-ammonia-alcohol production, will be even more promising.

Due to the objective influence of basic science, capital investment, and related policies, zero-carbon transformation of the shipping industry is still faced with numerous challenges, and there is still a long way to go to completely achieve net zero emissions. In the future, WINDEY will continue to develop multi-dimensional application scenarios, actively make inroads into the air transport market, and build a sustainable ecosystem that integrates the upstream and downstream of the "Three Greens" industry. Relying on renewable energy such as wind energy, WINDEY has put the strategic deployment of electronic fuels (e.g., electronic methanol and electricity-generated green ammonia) on the agenda. It is expected that by 2030, WINDEY will achieve its staged goal of "Three Million Tons" (namely, one million tons of biomass methanol, one million tons of electronic methanol, and one million tons of electricity-generated ammonia), enrich the "WINDEY Model" of hydrogen-ammonia-alcohol integration, and explore effective problem-solving ideas for "carbon". WINDEY will join hands with its friends worldwide to promote the sustainable development of the shipping industry.
